The Prayer

Trina and I have mentioned “our story” a number of times on this site.  Our relationship started as a picture seen in a prayer of two huge waves joining together to bring restoration - the picture of the impact that two right people can have for good on this earth.

I have been able to experience real conversation and dynamic pictures in my prayers - which has become a rich part of my Christian faith.  On this occasion I met with Jesus and we sat on Muskoka chairs overlooking a lake.  He pointed out to the bay where two giant waves were speeding towards eachother and collided in spectacular spray.  Without Him saying anything, I knew that represented what my journey had been like trying to find someone to share my life with.  He then pointed again and another huge wave sped across the bay, but this time a second wave caught up to it and added to it’s size and power.  Now one tidal sized wave pushed towards the shore.  As I looked at the shore I noticed all the trees were dead or dying and a man was hunched over with his face in his hands sobbing.  As the super wave struck the shore and receded, it not only left no damage but actually brought about restoration.  The trees were alive & a vibrant green again and the man had his arms stretched above his head and was dancing.

After this scene played before us, Jesus caught my eye and said this to me, “Ben, this is the combined IMPACT you can have for good when you are with the right person.”  Wow - what a promise.  This has become the foundation for our relationship - as we seek to magnify love, goodness, and peace to those around us - and to do it together.

This promise has given us an overwhelming peace - this relationship has been life giving, fun, a time of growth, and has deepened our understandings of what love is - and has the power to be.
